The President Invites Relatives of Shot Military Soldiers to the White House

Former President Donald Trump stated on the weekend that he has asked the relatives of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the executive mansion.

He added that he contacted her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.

Background on the Heartbreaking Incident

Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a shooting on last Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in grave state.

Gatherings across the state have occurred in their memory.

White House Call

The president said he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both individuals of the state National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” Trump addressed reporters. “And in the same way with Andrew, recover or not.”

Public Response

Attendees gathered over the weekend at the high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both they had been working with the military unit as part of the president’s government program to aid law enforcement in DC.

Honoring Sarah Beckstrom

“She was the type of pupil that teachers hoped for. She conducted herself with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that inspired those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of her former high school, informed the Associated Press. “She was kind, considerate and always eager to help others.”

Service details for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Judicial Actions and Government Revisions

Authorities have charged a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of murder and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The event led the government to halt refugee claims and halt providing visas to owners of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Wolfe

The airman, a native of Martinsburg, enlisted in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, per the Associated Press.

He remains under medical supervision and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia governor Morrisey stated on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi told a news show that she aimed to speak to the family.

Memory of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a military police officer with excellence, according to the military.

“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had courage,” the governor informed the audience at the memorial. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
