The former Liverpool manager says rejoining to manage Liverpool is plausible in theory.

The German coach, who stepped down from Liverpool in 2024, indicated that rejoining the club is a possibility. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-year spell featuring continental glory and the Reds’ first league title since 1990, now holds positions overseeing worldwide football within the Red Bull organization and as an advisor with the German Football League.

Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

They secured the league title last season, but many fans holding him in high esteem would welcome the notion that he may eventually return. During an extensive chat, he shared with the podcast host: “I stated I refuse to lead any other side in England. Which implies should it be the Reds...absolutely. It's plausible.”

“Being 58, which suggests the choice could be mine down the line, I don’t know. Must I choose now? If so, I wouldn't return. But thank God, I don’t have to do that. I'll wait and observe what the future brings.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Pressed on which situations would need to occur to bring him back to management, he revealed he feels no immediate pull toward coming back. “I don’t even know exactly, My present work fulfills me,” he stated. “I don’t miss coaching; I don’t miss standing under bad weather through long matches; I'm glad to skip press conferences multiple times weekly or having 10-12 interviews weekly.

“I don’t miss the dressing room per se, but sitting in a restaurant with the team enjoying conversation, that’s nice. With many victories meaning regularly great spirits in the building. I can still hear Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh vividly recalled as an instance.”

Commending Arne Slot

He commended of the current boss, crediting him for the adjustments that won the league last term. The team has suffered a string of losses in all competitions after a summer spending spree, yet he dismissed the suggestion it could be a decline.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward like Florian Wirtz, doubters will be silenced with negative comments. He’s an incredible talent. [Hugo] Ekitike, incredible player. It’s a really good thoughtfully assembled roster. Fans shouldn't fret about Liverpool, they'll bounce back.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

He shared movingly on the loss of Jota, a player he signed while in charge, and the effect on Liverpool. The Portugal international was killed in a road accident alongside his brother in July.

“Who can fill the void of somebody like Diogo? This isn't just regarding the player himself, it's his character. I struggle to conceive the team environment without him in it. Putting it into words is tough about it. A profound tragedy for his teammates also. Not a single person might employ it for poor performances yet it's the reality. Being in that space where his spirit remains. Dealing with that emotionally is challenging. Overwhelming.”
