Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed operations across the region in response for a large-scale and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any damage is not yet known and the American officials has not commented.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - stated they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted areas associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a several projectiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported debris fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
