Football Expert Sutton Takes On Artist Murs in Top Flight Predictions
The Gunners' 10-game victorious streak came to an end by Sunderland prior to the international hiatus, however will the Premier League frontrunners bounce back against local foes Spurs this Sunday?
"{I feel like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.
"Frank will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still manage to win."
The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this season, against artificial intelligence, readers and a range of guests.
In the twelfth round, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a United supporter.
The singer's latest record, the new release, is out on the weekend.
Soccer and Parenting Experiences
Murs is a skilled soccer player as well as a accomplished artist and has been a star of several Soccer Aid matches over time - but he is not intending a professional comeback as a player.
"{I recently played in a charity match the other evening for a friend of mine," he said. "The team was losing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!
"I still love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too risky for me in my career to do it seriously again.
"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my child or boy decides to play instead."
Murs and his wife his partner have a young family, their daughter and Albert, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by becoming their manager.
"I will not push football on our children but I've previously told Amelia that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be managing their Saturday football side," he said.
"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly was involved with a soccer team for a while too.
"My dad coached with us when I was a child, which is probably where I get it from. He managed our team for two or three seasons and had great fun with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Premier League Predictions
Saturday, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea might have to be patient for their star's return from injury but their attack is now more potent with Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.
I still think this game will be quite close, though. The Clarets are well organised and their sole at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.
It smells of a 1-1 tie to me, but I am actually going to go with Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.
Sutton's prediction: 1-2
The singer's prediction: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3
AI's prediction: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Bournemouth have lost their previous couple games - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.
On the other hand, West Ham secured two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at home, they do look competitive again.
The Hammers' only on the road victory this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in August, when their boss Nuno was previously that team's coach.
So, what exactly do I go with here - can the Hammers extending their run under Nuno, or the home side responding?
I will go with the Cherries, because I think what happened against Aston Villa was a blip.
The pundit's prediction: 2-0
Olly's prediction: The home team are performing strongly but the visitors have picked up under their boss. 2-2
The algorithm's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Brentford were considered one of the frontrunners for the drop before the campaign started, but they have surprised a few people under their manager and are in good form with three in their last four games.
A family member told me to select Bees striker Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.
Thiago will likely score again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or back Brentford at Amex Stadium.
They have not had great fortune on the road this term, and Brighton are always decent at home. The visitors will try to hit them on the break but I think Fabian Hurzeler's side pose much more of a threat.
Sutton's prediction: 2-1
The singer's view: It could be a match where you think there is going to be a lot of goals but it in reality proves to be rather tight. 1-1
The computer's prediction: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a huge fixture for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their past six matches.
They have got lots of talent in their squad but it nonetheless seems like they could be sucked into a relegation fight.
As for Sunderland, indeed they are the surprise package of the top flight campaign so far.
The away side's performance in the 2-2 tie with the Gunners last time out was excellent. We've not seen any other team rough up the North London side like that this term, and they were more than a match for them.
The sensible thing to do to support the Black Cats here, because they are clearly able of roughing Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they defeated the Blues at the end of last month.
But I am not do that. Rather, I really need to continue opposing the away team with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they evidently enjoy to prove me wrong.
Looking at Fulham's at Craven Cottage form, the only side they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Their manager's team will be absolutely eager for a good result, so I am going to predict they will pick up three much-needed points.
The expert's forecast: 1-0
The guest's prediction: I'm aware the visitors are doing well and also that Fulham are on a bad streak... but they have nonetheless been decent at home this campaign. 2-0
AI's outlook: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a tough fixture to call. The Reds have lost seven of their last ten matches in every tournament, but might they be among the sides who benefit from the {international break|
