British tennis star Emma Raducanu wraps up her season and will keep trainer through next year.
Raducanu advanced to round three in three of the four Grand Slams during the season.
Emma Raducanu from Great Britain has pulled out of her remaining competitions in 2025 due to a medical condition she has been fighting in recent days.
At 22 years old had planned to participate in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to recover prior to beginning plans for the 2026 season.
Her upcoming training will include her coach Francisco Roig, as both individuals have agreed to work together again next season.
She required blood pressure checks during her first-round match against Ann Li in Wuhan last week and withdrew when trailing 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.
Another medical visit was necessary medical attention at this week's Ningbo Open, where she lost in three sets to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in the first round.
Raducanu was also moving noticeably restricted in the third set versus Zhu due to back discomfort that has been a concern during parts of the season.
Such performances signaled a promising season, in which she climbed into the international top 30 after a long gap since her previous ranking, ended with three successive defeats.
Raducanu had three match points before losing to Jessica Pegula in the third round in last month's Beijing event.
The player achieved 28 victories during 2025 and reached the semi-finals in the Washington tournament, but her standout performance was at the Miami event in March.
As Britain's top player reached the quarter-finals of the WTA 1000 event, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way before losing in a three-set match to the world number four Pegula.
She worked with Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role in time for the US Open.
The initial agreement with the former trainer of Nadal was until the end of the season but the collaboration persists, with a training block pencilled in in the coming months.
The athlete revealed that her three-day trial with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.
The player was close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati during August.
Roig was also with Raducanu in the New York tournament, where she made the third stage prior to losing to 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
