Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Backing After PSV Loss

Arne Slot acknowledged that it's understandable for concerns to be asked about his future after a further heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in 12 matches, representing the team's worst run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I've received a lot of backing from above,” Slot remarked.

“It's important to reverse this trend and secure a win of course but if you are coaching a team and underperforming then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He added, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to expand on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me all the time each day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal exchanges I sense the trust. However I've not talked to them since this match so far so let’s see.”

Familiar Problems and Squad Reaction

Slot highlighted familiar weaknesses from his team in their Champions League loss, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't need to wait to think about it. I’m past being angry internally. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the words.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a period such as this with outcomes like these.”

He stated, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And until it is gone, we'll continue to battle.”

“Our aim is to get this team back to its rightful place, prove again the values of this club and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“But right now, things are bad and it must improve.”
